‘Communication Skills in English’

1. Objective:

To improve students spoken communication skills in English

2. Need Addressed and the Context:

The college receives all students from rural area. Many students are first generation learners and slow learners in communication skills in English. There is a need to motivate and develop their communication skills.

3. The practice:

Language is a means of communication, without language individual can’t communicate their ideas, views, opinions, attitudes etc. To improve their pronunciation of English words they are provided hands on training in language lab using LOTUS software, and communication exercises for improving commutation in day to day work are performed. Students are also involved in group discussions, seminar presentations, and survey work. Guest lectures are organized and students are encouraged to participate in lead college activities organized by other colleges in nearby areas.

4. Evidence of Success:

The practice helps the students to develop their confidence and communication skills in English and also it is helpful to create more interest in English language and literature. It has been observed that the students of COC course more likely to opt for English subject at B.A. III level and even enroll for post-graduation.Problems

Resources required: Text books, reference books, language laboratory, computer with internet, e-books and e-journals.
